This site has been created for those interested in information on the Victor (JVC) VHD Video Disc System. Technical articles, magazine reviews, pictures and hands-on experience with the VHD system are all contained within this website. Please select from one of the links at the top of the page. Planned for US introduction in 1982 by the VHD Programs, Inc. (consisting of JVC, Panasonic, GE, Toshiba and Sharp) the VHD system never got off the ground due to the poor showing of the LD and CED disc systems. Released in Japan in 1983, VHD enjoyed a good success and even had a number of 'firsts', such as computer control and truly interactive programming. In addition, VHD was the only videodisc system that offered 3D/2D compatible video to consumers. ATTENTION: THIS IS A VHD FAN-SITE ONLY. I AM NOT AFFILIATED WITH VICTOR (JVC) AND I DO NOT SELL DISCS OR PLAYERS. I ALSO DO NOT HAVE ANY INFORMATION ON WHERE TO GET DISCS, PLAYERS OR PARTS. VHD WAS NEVER INTRODUCED IN THE UNITED STATES AND IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE IN JAPAN.
