Barnes Molding Officially Renamed Spectrix, Delivering End-to-End Injection Molding System Solutions
Barnes Molding Solutions officially launched its new name — Spectrix. The custom injection molding company announced the news this week at Chinaplas 2026.

The new brand identity highlights the group's comprehensive "full-spectrum" capabilities in injection molding technology, encompassing brands such as Männer, Foboha, Synventive, Priamus, Thermoplay, and Gammaflux. The formerly private company began acquiring these brands successively starting in 2010. In 2025, private equity firm Apollo Global Management acquired Barnes Group for an alleged $3.6 billion.
Technology Integration
Spectrix stated that this renaming reflects the integration of core technologies within the same group structure, including product design, materials science, hot runner and mold technology, sensing and control technology, and injection molding.
The company stated that daily operations will remain unchanged, and cooperation contacts, existing contracts, and business processes will not be affected.
Expansion Plan
Spectrix stated in the press release that the company is strengthening its global market presence and expanding its business footprint, with this strategy already being implemented: a new production base in Pune, India, has officially started operations, and a production base near Detroit is also about to be launched. In February of this year, at the MD&M West exhibition held in Anaheim, California, Spectrix President Marcello Vendemiati also revealed that the company is considering setting up a production base in Mexico.
The press release states that the name “Spectrix” combines “spectrum” and “plastics,” while also reflecting the company’s core strengths—technical expertise, industry experience, and exceptional quality.
Spectrix added that the company provides integrated, end-to-end value chain services from product design to global injection molding production for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and large-volume manufacturers. For complex application scenarios, the company can also rely on its own manufacturing capacity, enabling customers to utilize various advanced technologies within the same system.
Assigned to the industrial sector for operation
After Apollo completed its restructuring and separated into two major business segments—Aerospace and Industrial—the former Barnes Molding Solutions business underwent a strategic repositioning, and Spectrix was assigned to operate under the Industrial segment.
The company’s services span multiple industry sectors, with the medical field historically being its core business. As Vendemiati stated to PlasticsToday during the MD&M West exhibition: “In terms of expansion, the medical field remains our top priority.”
