Seres zhang zhengping responds to tesla fsd entering china
IT Home, May 29 - At the 4th Future Automotive Pioneers Conference held today in Shenzhen, Zhang Zhengping, Chairman of Seres Automobile, shared his views on the comparison between Huawei Qian Kun Intelligent Driving and Tesla FSD.
He stated that which of the two intelligent driving systems is superior or inferior should ultimately be judged objectively by the market. When discussing the specific technical roadmap, Zhang Zhengping pointed out:
“Which intelligent driving system is better should ultimately be decided by the market. The all-new AITO M9 is equipped with six LiDAR sensors, which is in no way inferior to FSD in this respect. In addition, FSD emulates the human visual driving logic, whereas Huawei Qiankun Intelligent Driving can achieve a state of ‘seeing beyond what the human eye can see.’”

The Future Automotive Pioneers Conference is being held in Shenzhen concurrently with the 2026 (30th) Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area International Auto Show. With the theme “Step by Step,” the conference focuses on topics such as automotive technology and product innovation, as well as the commercialization of intelligent driving applications. Senior executives from automakers, including Li Chuanhai, Vice President of Geely Automobile, Xiang Xingchu, Chairman of JAC Group, and William Li, Founder of NIO, also attended the conference.
When discussing specific hardware configurations, Zhang Zhengping took the all-new generation AITO M9 as an example. The model is equipped with six LiDAR units and a total of 40 intelligent driving sensors across the vehicle, working in conjunction with Huawei’s Qiankun Intelligent Driving ADS 5 full-stack autonomous driving system. IT Home noted that this multi-sensor fusion solution has established differentiated competitiveness in terms of hardware redundancy, and Zhang therefore commented that “in this regard, it’s not inferior to FSD.”
From a technical roadmap perspective, since version 12, Tesla’s FSD has adopted a vision-only approach, relying on eight cameras and an end-to-end neural network architecture, with simulating human visual logic at its core.
At this conference, Zhang Zhengping also revealed the latest operating data for the AITO brand. Since partnering with Huawei to build the brand in 2021, AITO took just 46 months to reach its 1 millionth vehicle delivery. The AITO M9 has topped sales in China’s over-500,000-yuan segment for two consecutive years. To date, AITO’s cumulative assisted-driving mileage has exceeded 7.7 billion kilometers, with a cumulative user base of more than 537,000. During this year’s May Day holiday, the AITO M9’s intelligent driving usage rate exceeded 52%.
