Daqing Petrochemical Company is a regional branch of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC). It primarily uses crude oil from Daqing Oilfield, Russian crude oil, light hydrocarbons, and natural gas as raw materials to engage in refining, fertilizer production, ethylene, plastics, liquid chemicals, rubber, and acrylic fiber manufacturing. The company also provides engineering technical services, mechanical manufacturing and processing, and production technical services. Established in 1962, Daqing Petrochemical currently has 25 secondary units and employs more than 19,000 people. It operates 170 sets of production facilities, utility systems, and auxiliary facilities, capable of producing 488 grades across 63 product categories. The company's annual refining capacity is 10 million tons, with an ethylene production capacity of 1.2 million tons per year, synthetic ammonia at 450,000 tons, urea at 800,000 tons, polyethylene at 1.11 million tons, polypropylene at 100,000 tons, acrylonitrile at 80,000 tons, butanol and octanol at 200,000 tons, styrene at 190,000 tons, ABS at 105,000 tons, butadiene rubber at 160,000 tons, and acrylic fiber at 65,000 tons. In 2011, the company's revenue exceeded RMB 50 billion for the first time. In 2012, the 1.2 million tons/year ethylene expansion project, a key project under the National Science and Technology Ministry’s "863" program, was completed and put into operation. This marked the successful industrialization of China's first large-scale domestic ethylene technology, ending the country's long-term reliance on imported ethylene technology and significantly enhancing China's voice in the international petrochemical industry. In 2014, ethylene production surpassed 1 million tons for the first time. In 2019, ethylene production reached 1.2 million tons. In 2020, the structural adjustment and transformation upgrade project for refining was completed, marking Daqing Petrochemical's entry into the ranks of large integrated refining and chemical enterprises with annual processing capacity exceeding 10 million tons. By the end of 2022, Daqing Petrochemical had cumulatively processed 301 million tons of crude oil, produced 22.1359 million tons of ethylene, generated industrial output value of RMB 963.5 billion, achieved cumulative revenue of RMB 1.0419 trillion, and paid RMB 132.7 billion in taxes.
