The Cultivation of Research and Project-Support Network for Degradation of Space-Use Materials (CRED) is an abbreviation for CRED, which comes from "Credo" and is named with the meaning of "ambition" or "belief". The Space Materials Degradation Research Center was established to support various projects through academic research on material degradation and to "cultivate" various activities related to material degradation through a network of research centers. The field related to material degradation is not only space development, but also aging problems are appearing in infrastructure and equipment on the ground. The research center is working to contribute to Japanese industry by conducting research on material degradation, improving testing technology, and developing materials, and providing high added value through advanced quality assurance. These results were obtained through the entrusted project of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, "Formation of a Space Materials Degradation Research Center Supporting Space Utilization."
