Yanshan Petrochemical Company is a subsidiary of Sinopec Group. In the 1960s, to ensure the supply of finished oil products for Beijing, the central government decided to construct a modern refining base in the southwestern part of Beijing. The Dongfanghong Refinery was completed and put into operation just before the 20th anniversary of National Day in 1969, with accompanying petrochemical deep-processing facilities also being built successively. On July 20, 1970, the Beijing Petrochemical General Factory was officially established, becoming China’s first integrated refinery and petrochemical enterprise. Through the relentless efforts of several generations of builders, Yanshan Petrochemical has developed into a large-scale integrated refining and chemical enterprise with a refining capacity of ten million tons and an ethylene production capacity of 800,000 tons. Over the past five decades, Yanshan Petrochemical has achieved several milestones: it constructed China's first imported 300,000-ton ethylene plant, setting a successful example for building large-scale imported facilities; it led the implementation of two rounds of ethylene renovation and expansion projects, making valuable explorations for the accelerated development of the petrochemical industry; prior to the Beijing Olympics, it completed the renovation of its ten-million-ton refining system, becoming the first domestic base to produce Euro IV standard finished oil products. By the end of 2016, it introduced Jing VI fuel ahead of schedule, always staying at the forefront of national fuel upgrades. Currently, Yanshan Petrochemical operates 62 production units, capable of producing 116 varieties and 765 grades of petrochemical products. It is a core backbone enterprise of Sinopec's integrated refining and chemical operations and an important base for synthetic rubber, synthetic resin, and high-quality finished oil products in China. By the end of 2022, it had cumulatively processed 372 million tons of crude oil, produced 25.6791 million tons of ethylene, generated RMB 1.510255 trillion in revenue, and paid RMB 186.994 billion in taxes and fees. Since the new century, Yanshan Petrochemical has maintained a healthy and sustainable development trend, earning numerous accolades including the National May Day Labor Medal, Advanced Grassroots Party Organization of Central Enterprises, National "Safety Cup" Model Enterprise, China Environment-Friendly Enterprise, Top Ten Energy-Saving and Emission-Reduction Enterprises, National Occupational Health Model Enterprise, Top 50 Green Enterprises in Chinese Energy, China BaoSteel Environmental Award, National Two-In-One Deep Integration Model Enterprise, First Batch of Green Development Most Influential Enterprise Brands, Sinopec Green Enterprise, and Innovative Enterprise of the Group.
