Eppendorf Launches Non-PFAS Low-Residue Additives for Pipette Tips

Evante focused on showcasing its range of polymer colorants and additives at the Medica 2025 exhibition to enhance the appeal, performance, and sustainability of medical products.

This includes the launch of the latest Mevopur™ medical functional additive, a PFAS-free, low-retention compound for pipette tips.

The Mevopur product portfolio from Avient includes performance and process-enhancing additives that reduce friction, enhance transparency, support laser marking and welding, and provide protection against ultraviolet (UV) light, oxidation, as well as gamma radiation and/or electron beam sterilization.

This new type of low-retention material solution does not intentionally include perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), slip agents, plasticizers, or biocides in its formulation. It can be used to achieve excellent liquid release from polypropylene pipette tips in scientific and medical laboratory environments.

The low-retention additive serves as a ready-to-use composite material, requiring no secondary low-retention coating and can be adjusted according to customer needs. It can also withstand typical doses of electron beam and gamma radiation sterilization (usually up to 15 kGy) and quickly regain hydrophobicity after irradiation. In addition, its raw materials have been pre-tested according to ISO, USP, and ICH Q3D, making it suitable for manufacturers looking to use medical-grade pipette tip materials.
