New Floor Structure Effectively Reduces Noise Between Floors Using High-Density Open-Cell Polyurethane Foam
LX Hausys recently announced that its newly developed ground structure for reducing inter-floor noise has received a Level 1 certification in the floor impact sound insulation test conducted by the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) Quality Test Certification Center.

In tests of light impact noise generated by the falling of lightweight objects or the movement of furniture and heavy impact noise produced by running or stomping, noise levels below 37 decibels were recorded. 37 decibels is equivalent to the noise level inside a library.
LX Hausys effectively suppressed stomping sounds by embedding its independently developed "high-density open-cell polyurethane foam" cushioning layer into the general floor structure. This cushioning layer mainly acts to reduce low-frequency heavy impacts generated by people walking or running, while LX Hausys flooring "Editon" effectively reduces the transmission of impact energy.
Typically, the higher the floor strength and the harder the material, the lower its sound insulation performance will be. However, the technical value of LX Hausys lies in achieving the highest certification for impact sound insulation performance even when using high-strength floor materials.
The sound insulation experiment was not conducted in a laboratory, but rather implemented in the actual apartment project of GS Construction Company. LX Hausys signed a cooperation agreement with GS Construction Company earlier this year, and both parties have been jointly researching high-performance floor structures to reduce inter-floor noise.
