[PC/ABS Cost and Profit] Overall Industry Profitability Remains in a Low Range, with No Obvious Positive Catalysts for Recovery
Current prices for base PC and ABS resins are weakening in tandem, while upstream monomers such as crude oil, benzene, and styrene remain sluggish. Procurement costs for pellets have edged down slightly, but the costs of additives required for compounding, labor, and environmental compliance operations remain rigid. Industry profitability continues to be squeezed, and manufacturers have limited willingness to proactively cut prices to boost sales. Leading integrated enterprises are able to partially spread cost pressures thanks to captive raw material supply, while small and medium-sized compounders have no advantage in raw material procurement. Coupled with insufficient orders, losses are increasing, and overall industry profits remain at a low level, with no clear positive factors for recovery at present.
