Scaling Up Fashion Textile Circularity: Upstream and Downstream Companies Reach Strategic Agreement on Recycled Fiber Collaboration

Recycled textile fiber pulp manufacturer Circulose and sustainable textile startup Birla Cellulose have recently reached a strategic agreement to accelerate textile recycling through deeper brand collaboration and end-to-end value chain solutions. As part of the agreement, Circulose will provide Birla Cellulose with 100% recycled fiber pulp produced from textile waste, while the latter will be responsible for distributing the regenerated fiber products.
Birla Cellulose is a producer of sustainable man-made cellulosic fibers (MMCF) derived from renewable plant-based raw materials. The company operates 10 pulp and fiber plants and five advanced research and development centers that include pilot plants. It is a part of the Aditya Birla Group in India. Circulose is a Swedish sustainable technology company that has developed a patented method to recycle fiber-based textile waste, resulting in a material called Circulose. The goal of their collaboration is to enhance the scalability of circularity in the fashion and textile industry and to set a new benchmark globally.
According to previous information from the ESGnews website, Mango Clothing became the first brand to incorporate Circulose's recycled cotton fibers into product production since its relaunch. Circulose® is made entirely from discarded textiles rich in cotton and can serve as dissolving pulp, replacing virgin materials such as wood pulp or cotton. It can be transformed into regenerated fibers, such as viscose fiber, lyocell fiber, modal fiber, and acetate fiber, and used to produce new high-quality textile products.
