TÜV Rheinland Launches Recycled Material Verification Scheme to Enhance Traceability in Electronic Supply Chain

PR Newswire 2026-01-13 15:11:20

In the context of the global acceleration towards low-carbon transformation and a circular economy, the electronics industry is actively strengthening its management mechanisms for recycling and reuse. TÜV Rheinland, an independent third-party testing, inspection, and certification organization in Greater China, has recently implemented ISO 14021. EN 15343 ISO 22095 and other international standards have established a new verification process for closed-loop recycling materials and created a traceability system from waste recovery to new product applications, aiming to enhance the consistency and transparency of the overall process.

Xiang Junjie, Deputy General Manager of Personnel and Business Assurance Services at TÜV Rheinland, stated: "The closed-loop recycling model enhances resource utilization efficiency and will drive further upgrades in recycling technology and material management within the upstream supply chain, which is of critical importance for the sustainable transformation of the electronics industry."

Recently, TÜV Rheinland has assisted several partners in the electronic industry supply chain in implementing third-party verification processes in demonstration cases. The professional handling of electronic waste requires collaboration among multiple suppliers. Guangdong Tepai Co., Ltd. is responsible for the disassembly, classification, crushing, and cleaning of plastic materials. After regranulationThe electronic components are dismantled by SPC E-Cycle in Australia, and the internal printed circuit boards are processed by Mint Innovation using patented low-impact technologies to produce 100% brand-specific closed-loop copper. Subsequently, Ningbo Jintian Copper smelts it into copper strips that can be further processed for new product manufacturing. The various processed recycled materials are then reapplied into new product components, forming a complete closed-loop system that effectively reduces the environmental impact of electronic waste.

Through systematic auditing, TÜV Rheinland verifies that materials such as ABS, PMMA, rubber, and copper meet traceability and quality requirements at all stages from recycling to reuse. Xiang Junjie added, "The verification of recycled materials not only strengthens the supply chain's management capabilities for recycled materials but also lays the foundation for the industry to increase the proportion of recycled materials used and promote a circular economy. We look forward to partnering with more collaborators to promote this supply chain management model to a wider range of application scenarios."
