Titanium Chemical Expands Germany Phthalocyanine Pigment Production Capacity
DIC Group's subsidiary, Sun Chemical, announced that it will expand the production capacity of perylene pigments at its Ludwigshafen plant in Germany. The expansion will add up to 200 metric tons of finished products and intermediates.
Alex Baron, Vice President and Global Business Director of Taiyang Chemical, emphasized the importance of perylene pigments in the company's product portfolio. "Perylene pigments are central to our product lineup and a key area for ongoing innovation." He further noted that this investment will enhance the company's ability to offer diverse, high-performance color solutions and support the development of new products.
The capacity expansion in Ludwigshafen is a key step in enhancing supply continuity and driving growth in global key markets. This expansion is based on Sun Chemical's existing line of perylene pigments—including industry-leading grades ranging from red to purple, as well as functional black grades, all of which exhibit outstanding performance in various applications.
Tianyuan Chemical emphasizes that its perylene pigments are designed specifically for durability and color purity. This range of pigments can present rich red to maroon tones, with excellent heat resistance and stable outdoor performance, suitable for various applications. The company states that its engineering-grade products have vivid chroma and transparency, making them particularly suitable for high-end coatings and automotive paint applications.
In addition, the functional black perylene pigments developed by Titan Chemical offer a profound black coloring effect along with additional functional advantages, including solar heat management and high-end laser welding performance. These pigments can be used to formulate near-infrared reflective black surfaces, keeping them at lower temperatures under sunlight while providing transparency and a rich black effect for high-demand applications in the automotive and construction sectors.
