With this figure, Toyota has secured the top spot in global automaker sales for the sixth consecutive year, widening the gap with second-placed Volkswagen Group to approximately 1.5 million units.
Specifically by brand, Toyota and Lexus sold 10.5 million vehicles, Daihatsu sold approximately 700,000 vehicles, and Hino sold approximately 120,000 vehicles.
As for the best-selling countries and regions, sales are strong in the North American market, with hybrid models accounting for over 50%. Hybrid versions of models such as the RAV4 and Camry continue to be popular.
Sold 1.78 million units in China and was the only Japanese brand to achieve positive growth; achieved record sales of 1.229 million units in the European market, with electrification accounting for 77%.
It is worth mentioning that Toyota's strong sales are partly due to its comprehensive product matrix, covering everything from microcars (Daihatsu) to luxury cars (Lexus), and from family sedans (Corolla) to rugged off-road vehicles (Land Cruiser), meeting all scenario needs.
On the other hand, hybrid vehicles are highly popular, serving as a crucial bridge in the transition from gasoline to electric power. Last year, they accounted for a significant 46.2% of sales and were a core driver of Toyota's sales growth.
Toyota's THS hybrid system, with 25 years of iteration, boasts industry-leading technological maturity, offering low fuel consumption, high reliability, and strong resale value. It does not rely on charging infrastructure and perfectly adapts to global market demands.
