Wenjie Automotive Discusses Zhejiang Taizhou M9 Accident Again, Huawei's Giant Whale Battery Platform Safety Design Details Revealed
On June 7, HIMA AITO’s official account yesterday released a Q&A regarding the AITO M9, once again addressing the accident that occurred in Taizhou, Zhejiang.
Upon on-site confirmation, the accident occurred when the vehicle collided with a large metal component that had fallen from the preceding vehicle during travel, causing a strong physical impact and dragging for a period of time before igniting. The fire has now been extinguished, and there were no casualties. Prior to the incident, the vehicle's three-electric system was functioning normally, and no other abnormalities in the vehicle were observed. The accident was not caused by the vehicle itself.
AITO officially introduced Huawei’s Giant Whale battery safety design. According to the company, the AITO M9 comes standard with Huawei’s Giant Whale battery platform, featuring intrinsically safe materials and an upright cell architecture design. The cell gaps are filled with aerospace-grade aerogel and equipped with high-temperature-resistant mica plates and nano-scale ceramic insulation layers. It features a 15-layer systematic safety protection system. AITO officially stated that even in such extreme scenarios, if some cells are damaged, it can still effectively prevent the spread of fire.

According to a previous report from IT Home, on June 3, 2026, a Wanjie M9 was involved in an accident in Zeguo Town, Taizhou City, Zhejiang Province: on-site confirmation indicated that the accident occurred when the vehicle collided with a large metal component that had fallen from the front vehicle while driving, resulting in a strong physical impact and dragging for a period of time before catching fire.
