Zero tariff! india announces immediate duty exemption for over 40 petrochemical products, including polyurethane and epoxy resin
New Delhi, April 2 - The Indian government announced that in response to the supply chain disruptions caused by the conflict in West Asia, it will impose zero tariffs on dozens of key petrochemical products, with the measures effective until June 30, 2026.

This exemption covers basic chemicals such as anhydrous ammonia, methanol, and phenol, as well as plastics and resins including polyethylene, polypropylene, PVC, epoxy resin, and PET chips, along with polymers such as ABS, PC, and PU, and textile raw materials like PTA and ethylene glycol.
This temporary policy aims to stabilize the supply of industrial raw materials and alleviate cost pressures on downstream manufacturing sectors, covering industries such as plastics, packaging, textiles, pharmaceuticals, automotive, and electronics, by reducing raw material costs to curb price increases of end products.
India stated that this move is a temporary measure in response to external shocks and will be reassessed based on global market conditions upon expiration.
The complete list of products that will be discounted is as follows:
