National Mandatory Standard Issued: "Safety Technical Requirements for Automobile Door Handles" to be Implemented From 2027

The State Administration for Market Regulation and the Standardization Administration of China have jointly approved the "Safety Technical Requirements for Automobile Door Handles" (GB48001-2026), which will come into effect on January 1, 2027. The standard mandates that exterior door handles must be equipped with a mechanical release device, interior door handles must enable independent mechanical operation, and exterior door handles must withstand a pulling force of 500 Newtons. Interior door handles must withstand different pulling forces depending on their type, and their installation position must comply with ergonomic principles.
