Major Change! New Regulations Coming for Airline Seat Blocking
According to ZS Insights, the China Air Transport Association (CATA) announced today that, in order to further guide airlines to standardize the practice of reserving seats on flights and better meet the diverse and differentiated seat selection needs of passengers, under the guidance of the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), CATA is organizing various airlines to study and formulate the group standard "Rules for Reserved Seats on Flights of Public Air Transport Enterprises," which intends to regulate key content such as the types, scope, and proportion of reserved seats, as well as the notification of passenger information.

Prior to this, the Jiangsu Consumers' Association had interviewed ten airlines and reported four issues regarding seat blocking on tickets, including excessive blocking of premium seats, disguised payment for unlocking mechanisms, and opaque information with unreasonable explanations.
