Plastic Ingenuity Acquires Spezi-Pack to Enter European Medical Packaging Market
Plastic Ingenuity, one of North America’s largest custom thermoforming companies, has expanded its footprint into Europe through the acquisition of Spezi-Pack, a long-established thermoforming company located near Dresden, Germany. This expansion enables Plastic Ingenuity to provide local European manufacturing services for medical device and pharmaceutical packaging, enhancing end-to-end operational efficiency.

Dan Kuehn, President and CEO of Plastic Ingenuity, stated: “Today, we operate manufacturing facilities in both North America and Europe, enabling us to better support local production, enhance supply chain resilience, and meet the evolving needs of our global healthcare customers.”
The Spezi-Pack team has nearly 40 years of experience in the thermoforming industry. The former president of the company, Dirk Walters, will continue to be responsible for the German region's business, ensuring a smooth transition and no disruption in operations.
Kuehn said, "We have a strong, experienced, and stable team who are excited about the development opportunities brought by the new equity structure."
Plastic Ingenuity plans a significant investment in the facility to further strengthen its presence in the healthcare sector. The upgrade includes the addition of an ISO Class 7 cleanroom and a new thermoforming production line to expand capacity for medical and pharmaceutical packaging. These enhancements are expected to be fully operational by the first quarter of 2027.
