South Korea's Overseas Construction Orders Reached $47.27 Billion Last Year, Hitting An 11-Year High
The data released by the South Korean government on Friday shows that driven by large energy projects such as the Czech nuclear power plant, South Korea's overseas construction orders in 2025 have soared to their highest level in 11 years.
According to data from the South Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the total amount of overseas construction orders in the country last year was $47.27 billion, the highest level since 2014 when the figure was $66 billion.
This figure also represents a 27.4% increase compared to $37.11 billion in 2024.
The order amount from Europe was $20.16 billion, nearly quadrupling year-on-year, accounting for 42.6% of last year's total order amount, mainly due to the order for the construction project of the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant in the Czech Republic, which amounted to $18.72 billion.
However, orders from the Middle East decreased by 35.8% to $11.8 billion, while orders from North America and the Asia-Pacific region combined fell by 10% to $6.4 billion. Orders from Africa nearly doubled, reaching $680 million.
From the perspective of countries, the Czech Republic ranks first with an order amount of 18.73 billion dollars, followed by the United States (5.79 billion dollars), Iraq (3.46 billion dollars), Qatar, and Saudi Arabia (2.85 billion dollars).
