YanChang Petroleum's ¥802.9 Billion Yan'an 10 Million Tons/Year Refining and Chemical Integration Upgrade Project Completed

Recently, the environmental impact report for the upgrade and renovation project of biodegradable plastics PBAT and PETG series products of Anhui Haoyuan Chemical Group Co., Ltd. was publicly announced on the website of Fuyang Municipal Bureau of Ecology and Environment before approval.

In July 2021, Anhui Haoyuan Chemical Group Co., Ltd. planned to construct a 300,000-ton/year fully biodegradable plastic (PBAT) project. The project was designed to be built in two phases, with the first phase constructing 100,000 tons/year of PBAT and 11,000 tons/year of tetrahydrofuran, and the second phase constructing 200,000 tons/year of PBAT and 22,000 tons/year of tetrahydrofuran.

This involves modifying an existing Phase I production line, built in early 2025, with an annual capacity of 100,000 tons of fully biodegradable plastic (PBAT). After the modification, the production capacity will change to 25,000 tons of PBAT and 75,000 tons of PETG per year.

When producing PBAT, the original process is still used, with terephthalic acid (PTA), adipic acid (AA), and 1,4-butanediol (BDO) as raw materials. For PETG production, the main process flow remains unchanged (specific modifications are detailed in the engineering construction content), using terephthalic acid (PTA), CHDM (cyclohexanedimethanol), NPG (neopentyl glycol), and EG (ethylene glycol) as raw materials.

Currently, the company's main products have a production capacity of 1 million tons/year of liquid ammonia, 1.1 million tons/year of urea, 100,000 tons/year of compound fertilizer, 700,000 tons/year of methanol, 300,000 tons/year of ethylene glycol, 300,000 tons/year of hydrogen peroxide, 150,000 tons/year of dimethyl ether, 260,000 tons/year of styrene, 200,000 tons/year of polystyrene, 100,000 tons/year of biodegradable plastics (PBAT), 400,000 tons/year of nylon 66 (PA66), 600,000 tons/year of bottle-grade polyester (PET), 30,000 tons/year of isopropylamine, 20,000 tons/year of morpholine, 6,000 tons/year of diglycolamine, and 6,000 tons/year of N-methylmorpholine N-oxide, among others. Among these, urea and methanol products are Anhui Provincial Famous Brand Products, and their production scales rank first in Anhui Province. Morpholine is an Anhui Provincial Famous Brand Product and an Anhui Provincial High-Tech Product, possessing 6 invention patents, and its production capacity ranks first in Asia.

In recent years, domestic enterprises have continuously broken through technical bottlenecks, driving rapid growth in PETG production capacity.

According to statistics, China's PETG production in 2023 was 112,600 tons, while the demand reached 317,600 tons. With the strategic involvement of numerous enterprises, the total domestic production capacity is expected to increase significantly after 2025, far exceeding 500,000 tons per year, leading to increasingly fierce market competition.
