According to sources, Spanish company Repsol plans to restart the Sines cracker and its associated butadiene extraction unit in Portugal in June this year. Previously, there were varying reports in the market regarding the resumption timeline for this facility. Industry data shows that the Sines cracker has an annual production capacity of 410,000 tons of ethylene and 215,000 tons of propylene, while the downstream butadiene extraction unit has an annual capacity of 50,000 tons. This mixed-feed cracker has been under long-term maintenance since 2023, and the shutdown period has been extensive.
